About

About Me:
I'm a Kindle bestselling author of the YA PNR Angel's Edge series. I also wrote short fiction for Dark Tomorrows, a horror/dark SF anthology with Amanda Hocking, J.L. Bryan, and others. I run a very active personal blog called The Ides of March. Clearly, this little review blog is just getting off the ground. We'll see where it goes from here.

I read. A lot. Reading is my One True Superpower. At some point in grad school, I realized my professors had managed to crush my soul, turning me into an information-consuming machine who could plow her way through hundreds of pages of obscure information in a single day. One day, after almost being crushed by my to-read pile, I decided to use my huge stock of books and swift reading powers for good. I have other things going on in my life including a writing career of my own and another active blog, so I don't want this to take over my life. The title for it just kind of popped out in conversation one day when my sweetheart raised an eyebrow and half-snorted. "I'd like to see you do anything half-heartedly," as if I couldn't. That was it. The gauntlet was thrown. Nothing spurs me on like being told I can't. So although there's nothing halfhearted about the way I read, the challenge stands to have a book blog that doesn't take over the rest of my my life.

Preferred Genres:
What do I read, exactly? I'm a huge fan of the paranormal, and anything YA. I really like dystopia, apocalypse, and worlds-at-war kind of stuff. Mythological creatures? I love to read about (well written) vampires and most kinds of shifters. The key thing about shifters is that the characters be more human than animal- in other words, plot isn't driven by animal instinct alone. I love love love fairies, especially dark ones, gods/goddesses, and psychic powers. I'm not overly fond of dragons, though. I love romance of almost any kind, including historical, PNR, urban, some kinds of contemporary, light and YA. I DO NOT like cowboys. Highlanders and pirates are great, though. Fantasy of all kinds: epic, urban, space opera, historical. Almost all SF, with the exception of some hard military type-stuff. I tend to like colonization and futuristic dystopias. SF thrillers are great, too. Outside the realm of the fantastic, I will give horror, thrillers, and adventure a try. Some types of non-fiction are ok, too, if they have general appeal, are funny, or or might somehow improve my life. A How-To book on making my own clone would be very welcome. :)

Don't like: Erotica (although I can deal with high-flame romance), specialized non-fiction outside the realm of most people's lives; poetry; essays; memoirs; attempts at literary fiction; middle grade and children's books; advice and how-to.

Review Formats:
I prefer ebooks, and often joke that they will have to pry my Kindle from my cold, dead hands. I will read physical copies, especially if they are ARCs or part of a tour. I will cross-post reviews to Amazon, Goodreads, Barnes and Noble, and Smashwords, if requested. Try and give me as much notice as possible. I can't guarantee a review time, and unless your book interests me, I can't guarantee a review at all. As I mentioned above, I write books of my own and have a life besides that, but I will try to accommodate when I can. If you send me an ARC I will make an attempt to post the review on or close to release time. I will also do my best to accommodate tours, giveaways, interviews, and features. Check back as policies for these types of things evolve. I love to discover Indie authors, and read both Indie and traditionally published authors extensively.
